Pearl in Indonesia
Pearl, Freshwater pearls are found, obviously, in lakes and rivers, and although a few come from the Mississippi river and other freshwater bodies around the world, 95% of freshwater pearls come from China. Please note that whatever someone tells you, THERE ARE NO FRESHWATER PEARLS FROM LOMBOK, or for that matter from Indonesia! None!
Freshwater pearls(Ikecho or Hyriopsis schlegeli)
Freshwater pearls are born from Ikecho oyster inhabit freshwater ponds in Japan and China. It is possible to cultivate 30~40 pearls from one Ikecho Oyster, and to make various shapes according to the shape of nucleus inserted.
Indonesian pearls are purchased by Japanese companies, the color is bleached, additional color is then added, flaws are mechanically removed, coatings are added for extra lustre, and more. Our Indonesian keshi pearls have not been processed in any way. No bleaching nor color enhancement, mechanical flaw-removing (so if it looks flawless, it really is without flaws), no repolishing, no coating etc; what you see is what you get.
South sea pearls(white-lipped or silver-lipped)
- Pinctada maxima
Pinctada maxima inhabits Australia, Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines bears large size more than 10mm in diameter, have silver, pink and gold color.
Black pearls (black-lipped)
- Pinctada margaritifera
Pearls born from Pinctada margaritifera inhabit Tahiti, Borneo, Okinawa are black pearls. Because of its deep and attractive luster and rarity, black pearls are qualified as one of the most valuable pearls.
Mabe pearls(Pteria Penguin)
This is hemispherical pearl born from Mabe oyster found in Pacific Ocean south from Amami island and tropical ocean of the Indean Ocean. This oyster known "the most beautiful pearl oyster in the world" has beautiful iridescence.
