Again...! "Aircraft hit a building in New York"

Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle, 34,A US baseball star has died after his small aircraft crashed into a high-rise building in the centre of New York. His flying instructor also died when their plane slammed into the apartment block.

Authorities have ruled out terrorism but the incident initially caused jet fighters to be scrambled above major cities in the United States. The impact sent flames leaping from windows of the 52-storey building in Manhattan's Upper East Side district. The Aircraft parts and debris were scattered around the crash site.

To day, Investigators has found crashed plane's memory chip and global positioning system device from control panel of the aircraft that crashed into a New York City residential building Wednesday, The National Transportation Safety Board spokeswoman said Thursday.



A spokesman for Cirrus Design in Minnesota, the maker of the plane(Bill King) say that The chip could provide information about the flight at the time of the crash if it is in good condition. "This is not black box technology," King said. "It's going to give general information [such as] how hard the engine was working. It won't show speed. [But] this airplane/aircraft took a significant hit. Depending on how badly damaged it is, they may or may not have any information on it."

Lidle's pilot logbook, a propeller and the engine were found at the crash site. The crash into the 50-story skyscraper ignited a fire and sent up smoke that could be seen across the city skyline. This case brought back the New York people to the memories of the 9/11 attacks.



"We were able to look at the propeller. We were able to see two of the three blades. One of the blades is bent the other has a tip broken off," Shattered glass and aircraft parts litter the floor below, NTSB spokeswoman Debbie Hersman.

The aircraft hit the middle of the high-rise at 574 E. 72nd St. and York, near the East River, New York. Nobody was hurt in the fire and the building was safely evacuated.

"This is a terrible and shocking tragedy that has stunned the entire Yankees organisation," the owner of the Yankees baseball club, George Steinbrenner, said in a statement. "I offer my deep condolences and prayers to his wife, Melanie, and son, Christopher, on their enormous loss," Steinbrenner said.

Lidle, a California native, married in 1997. The couple's son is 6.
